Big adventures.
Small packs. Personalised care.
Because your dog deserves more than just another walk, a busy daycare centre or somewhere to sleep while you're away.
At Hound Hero Melbourne, we believe great dog care is about more than keeping dogs occupied. It's about understanding their personalities, building their confidence and giving them the opportunity to enjoy life as part of a happy, familiar pack.
From our small-group adventures to home-based daycare and overnight stays, we provide thoughtful, personalised care for hounds across Melbourne's west.
Small packs. Big personalities.
We keep our group walks and daycare adventures small, with no more than five dogs per group.
Why? Because every dog is different.
Some are born adventurers who love a good zoomie. Others prefer a leisurely sniffari, familiar friends or a quiet moment to recharge.
Smaller groups mean we can get to know each dog, understand their social preferences and give them the individual attention they deserve.
It's not about having the biggest pack. It's about having the right one.
Adventures worth wagging about
A great walk is about more than kilometres covered.
We explore some of Melbourne's western suburbs' favourite dog-friendly parks and outdoor spaces, giving our hounds opportunities to exercise, sniff, socialise and discover.
Whether it's a grassy park, an interesting new scent trail or a game with a favourite friend, we believe outdoor adventures should be as enriching as they are enjoyable.
And for dogs who join us regularly, those adventures become part of a familiar weekly routine.
A home away from home
There's something special about being cared for in a real home.
Our daycare and overnight guests enjoy a welcoming, home-based environment, with comfortable places to rest, opportunities to play and the companionship of people who genuinely love dogs.
We balance activity with downtime, recognising that even the most energetic hound needs a little peace and quiet.
No crowded kennel runs. No one-size-fits-all routines. Just thoughtful care tailored to the dogs sharing our home.
Familiar faces. Lasting friendships.
We love getting to know our regular hounds.
Over time, we learn their favourite games, their funny little habits, who they enjoy spending time with and how they like to settle down after an adventure.
That familiarity helps us provide consistent, individual care — and gives your dog the chance to build lasting relationships with our team and their canine companions.
For us, that's what being part of the Hound Hero pack is all about.
Care you can feel confident about
We know that trusting someone else with your dog is a big decision.
That's why we take time to get to know every new hound before welcoming them into our care.
Our free Meet & Greet gives us an opportunity to learn about your dog's personality, behaviour and individual needs, while giving you the chance to ask questions and see whether we're the right fit.
We're police checked, trained in pet first aid and committed to providing a safe, positive experience for every dog in our care.
And with updates through Time To Pet, you can stay connected to your hound's adventures throughout the day.
Meet the team — including our Woofer in Chief
Hound Hero is a small, family-run business built around a genuine love of dogs.
And of course, no introduction would be complete without Theodore Houndsevelt, our Hound in Residence and Woofer in Chief.
Part welcoming committee, part quality-control officer and full-time enthusiast for comfortable sleeping arrangements, Theodore helps make Hound Hero feel like home.
He's also the voice behind our local dog park reviews, field guides and occasional pieces of canine wisdom.
