Hound Hero Dog-Park Reviews: The Warmies @ Newport
Greetings, fellow canine adventurers and enabling humans!
It is I, Theodore Houndsevelt, your loyal Hound in Residence and Woofer in Chief here at Hound Hero. Today, I bring you my review of one of my favourite romping grounds: The Warmies, located in between the Melbourne suburbs of Newport and Spotswood.
Now, let me tell you, dear reader, if you’re looking for a dog park that gets tails wagging at full throttle, The Warmies is a true gem. This place is HUGE! With plenty of grassy space for zoomies, sniffs, and socialising, it’s the kind of place where a hound like me can truly stretch my legs and let loose.
First and foremost, let’s bark about the space. The Warmies offers a vast open area, perfect for off-leash play and making new four-legged friends. Whether you’re a sprinter, a sniffer, or a leisurely stroller, there’s something here for every pup. And don’t worry, humans—this magnificent park is fully fenced! That means us dogs get to enjoy a proper frolic while you relax, knowing we’re safe within its boundaries.
Speaking of human comforts, there’s atarmac road that loops around the park, making it a fantastic spot for those who enjoy a good walk while their canine companion explores. I personally enjoy trotting alongside my people, taking in all the glorious scents wafting through the air (oh, the stories those scents tell!).
One of the most exciting features of The Warmies is the bunny rabbit community that calls the other side of the fence home. Now, don’t get me wrong—I respect a good chase as much as the next dog, but these little fluffballs keep to themselves, and we keep to ours. It’s a thrilling yet peaceful coexistence, perfect for those of us who love a bit of wildlife-watching during our outings.
Hydration is key for any respectable pup, and while The Warmies doesn’t have a dedicated water tap, the amazing local community ensures we stay refreshed. Kind humans regularly bring large water containers and dog bowls, so there’s always a chance to quench that post-zoomie thirst. It’s this community spirit that makes the park feel extra special.
And let’s not forget the picnic tables! Sure, they may have been placed there for hoomans to sit and chat, but every dog knows they double as prime perching spots. A good table-top survey of the land is always in order, if you ask me!
A Favourite Amongst Hound Hero Hounds
Here at Hound Hero, The Warmies is one of our regular destinations for group walks, daycare adventures, and overnight clients. It’s also a paw-fect meeting spot for new families joining our pack via meet and greets. With wide-open spaces, friendly locals, and a reliable atmosphere, it ticks every box for a tail-wagging good time.
So grab your lead (or better yet, ditch it once inside!), round up your human and head on down to Newport’s finest doggy destination. You won’t be disappointed
